As part of our work within the community we have recently installed a defibrillator on the premises. All of our staff have been trained to use the device but it is specifically designed for people with little to no medical background. We were pleased to discover the defibrillator:
Has voice commands which guide you through the process step by step in a calm manner.
Has intelligent technology which will only allow it to shock a ‘shockable’ heart. You cannot cause any further damage by using the defibrillator.
The potential for saving a life is highly dependent on time – studies suggest survival rate decreases by 23% every minute after a cardiac arrest. We hope to spread the word as far as we can through the Kingston Park Community.
