Practice Update 25th April 2020

The practice is ticking along and Michael has been kept quite busy seeing emergency appointments and carrying out repairs. He’s definitely picking up new skills on the reception desk! We are still able to order contact lenses and are endeavouring to get them sent to you at home where we can. If you live nearby you may also be able to pick up your lenses at the practice by prior arrangement. Get in touch if you need some more.
We are also busy putting together plans for when we do re-open. Your safety, and the safety of our staff, is paramount and we are working hard to put suitable precautions in place. We understand many of you will be due for your routine eye examinations and we are considering strategies including staggered appointments and limits on patient numbers to keep everybody safe. We will also be following government guidelines closely to enhance our cleaning regimes and introduce facemasks and Perspex screens.
Help us to help the NHS, and phone us on 0191 271 2140 for eye emergencies. The College of Optometrists defines emergencies as:
  • A sudden change in your vision (floaters, flashes or blurring)
  • A painful or red eye
  • If you have broken or lost a pair of glasses and need a replacement to function normally
  • An issue with your contact lenses
However, the above list is not exhaustive and we would encourage you to contact us on 0191 271 2140 with any queries. We are open 10-2 weekdays and 10-1 on Saturdays. If you can’t get through, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
